11月16〜18日は水祭りという祝日で三連休のため、仏像を見に2泊3日でアンコール遺跡群に行ってきた。
プノンペン空港を16日の8時30分発、18日の18時40分着の飛行機と日本語ができるガイドと車を予約して準備万全なはずだった。
16日朝、アパートからトゥクトゥクで空港到着後、受付カウンターでwebで飛行機の予約画面を印刷した紙を見せても受付の人が困っている様子、
(受付)メールの画面を見せろ
↓
(私)この紙しかない、予約時にカスタマーセンターに電話したら大丈夫だと言われた
↓
(受付)予約番号がないと乗れない
結局、10時台の飛行機は満席で13時30分の飛行機を予約することになる。しかも現金で支払うことに。
時間が有り余ったので帰りの飛行機も予約できてないと思い携帯から予約する。
すんなり購入できて予約番号も発行されメールも届いた。
いやな予感はしていたがweb予約時にフォーム入力途中で日本語に切り替えたことかwifiが不安定だったことが原因で誤入力項目の再入力が表示されなかったようだ。「まだ登録が終わってません。下記項目をご確認ください。」と表示されてたが完了してるように見えたため電話で確認したら予約できてると言われたのは聞き方がだめだったのだろう。web決済は気をつけなければいけない。
半日を無駄にしてしまったが待合所から飛行場に出た瞬間、100メートルくらい先に尾翼に日の丸がついている政府専用機が目に飛び込んできた。
安倍総理がプノンペンに来るというニュースを聞いていたので見れればラッキーだと思っていた。
報道陣が小走りで降りてきたのにビックリした。カメラマンらも一緒に乗ってくるようだ。
小型の飛行機に乗りわずか40分ほどのフライトは空からの風景も見れてあっという間だった。
アンコール遺跡の玄関口シェムリアップ空港到着、大変小さな空港で迷わず出口へ。
待ち合わせしていたガイドさんが大きな紙に名前でも書いててくれるのかと思い、
紙を上げている人がたくさんいて自分の名前を探しているうちに、
すたすた近づいてくる人から「こんにちは」と言われ無事合流。
そして車でアンコールワットへ行くことに。
アンコールワット手前の料金所で3日間の入場パス40ドルを支払い
空港からアンコールワットまで40分くらいか、その間ガイドさんがいろいろ説明してくれるので
空港着いたら5分でアンコールワットという感じだった。
入場パスはアンコールワット周辺の遺跡まで対象となる。
世界遺産の登録も同じでアンコール遺跡群として登録されている。
車を降りると観光客の多さにうんざりしそうになるが
ガイドさんが丁寧に説明してくれながら歩いて行く。
事前にガイドブックを読んでいたから理解できたが予備知識なしではちょっと日本語が理解しづらかった。
アンコールワットは12世紀頃、ヒンドゥー教のヴィシュヌ神に捧げるために建造された、王のお墓という説があるが定かではないらしい。
周りは東西1.5km、南北1.3kmのお堀と城壁のような回廊で囲まれている。
中心の建物は中央の塔の周りに４つの塔が配置されている。
入口で入場パスを見せてからお堀を橋で渡るのだが、
おなじみのトウモロコシのような建物がようやく見えたときが感動する瞬間だった。
ガイドさんの案内で額縁の中に収まってるように見えるところや
よくガイドブックに乗っている写真スポットを案内してもらい建物まで30分くらいかけて歩いて行く池に映るのが「逆さアンコールワットです。」と言われたのがおかしかった。イントネーションはおかしな感じで。
5つの塔が見える角度のところがおすすめらしい。
中心の建物は外側から第一回廊、第二回廊、第三回廊がありどんどん高くなっていく、
第一回廊は壁に彫刻が刻まれていてストーリーが展開されている。やはりガイドさんが一生懸命説明してくれるのだがあまり記憶に残らない。
急な階段を昇り、第二回廊、第三回廊まで見学できるが中はあまり印象に残らなかった。仏像も壊されたものばかりだった。
たまに外の景色が見えるのだが密林しか見えない。
やはり外からの形式美を記憶に焼き付けながら入口まで戻る頃には火がくれる頃で2時間半くらいの見学時間だった。
第三回廊も16時半で入れなくなるのでぎりぎり間に合ってよかった。
ホテルまで送ってもらいチェックインを済ませると前日からの風邪がひどくなっていた。
そして飛行機チケットに予定外の出費となり現金が少なくなる。
夕食にシェムリアップの繁華街パブストリートに向かうが突然の大雨、
それでも観光客で大賑わいで席が空いてる店が見つからないが
メキシコ料理の2階に入るとガラガラで落ち着くことに
クレジットカードが使えたので
ブリトー・タコス・チリコンカーンを食べて満足。
ホテルに戻りやっぱ京都・奈良がいいなと思いながら寝込む。
